Facebook has become the most recognizable social networking site in the world. Millions of people populate the site every day to stay in touch with friends and family. It’s one of those things that if you aren’t on facebook you are in the small minority.

For all the good that Facebook brings to the lives of the people around it, there are some things that people need to be aware of when it comes to the games you can play. Many of these games, like Farmville and Cityville, are very fun and entertaining games but they come with a bit of a sacrifice.  When you sign up for these games you are allowing them to use your information.

This idea of sharing the information from your profile seems harmless, right? After all you might populate your friends user feed with a little bit of spam about the game, but there is more to the story than just that. You are giving them access to your personal information. This also allows them to access your friends profiles and their personal information. While you might not mind all that much, your friends certainly do.

The unfortunate part of this is that it’s difficult to play these very entertaining games without giving your friends information or access away. So, you have a decision to make. The personal choice to many is to avoid it to protect your own personal information. Facebook games are a fun way to pass the time, but there is always a price to pay for playing them. In this case it’s privacy.

Tips for Successful Facebook Gaming

An addiction is anything a person does in excess that interferes with their everyday living, on a daily basis.

Occasionally, everyone finds himself or herself caught up in one thing or another occasionally, while letting the dishes sit in the sink, or allowing the laundry to pile up. When people put off these chores repeatedly for days or weeks on end, it can lead to addiction. There are ways we can prevent this from happening, using the games on Facebook as examples.

  • Avoid sharing every accomplishment in a game

People are inherently competitive, and this is evident when you see friends on Facebook playing Farmville. One wants to have a bigger farm than one of his Farmville neighbors. The other wants to have more animals or trees. Every time Facebook asks you to share your accomplishments on Farmville on your page, it signals your Farmville friends to want to accomplish the same amazing feat. Staying one-step ahead of your Farmville friends can be addicting.

  • Do not return every gift

If you send a gift back to a Facebook friend in a game, they will send you another. Send another back to them, and they will do it again. You can wind up spending all your Facebook time sending game gifts back and forth. Try to ignore some of the gift giving and you can satisfy your gaming crave by actually playing the game. As a result, you can cut your time spent on Facebook games in half.

  • Play one game at a time

Ignore friends who try to involve you in every game they play on Facebook. Concentrate on playing one or two games, switching off and on to other games. This can prevent you from becoming addicted to one game over another, and you will enjoy playing the games more.

Playing Facebook games in moderation will always help to curb what may become an addiction.

Online Games are Gaining in Popularity

People are using the Internet for a lot more today than they did in the past. You can do the same, no matter whether you’re tech savvy or just getting started. Don’t assume that there’s nothing to do online, or there aren’t games that you’ll be interested in. It can’t all be research and checking your email. When you look for games to play, you’ll be one of the millions who spend time on the Internet each day playing different kinds of games for fun (and sometimes for profit). Whether you prefer Farmville or Cafe World on Facebook, or you’re an avid World of Warcraft player, there are games that you’ll enjoy.

Many people also like to play online casino games, because they’re easy and convenient. You don’t have to drive or fly to a casino where you can gamble. You simply sit down at your computer, sign up, and you can play slots, craps, poker, or just about anything else. If it’s in the casinos, it’s most likely online, too. Don’t go thinking that you’ll have to spend a lot of money, either. Some places let you play for free, but if you win, you don’t actually get anything. Other places require you to put money into your account, and that’s the money you use to bet. You can lose that money, but you can also win more if you’re a good player or if you get lucky.

If you like to gamble and you want to make money, play for free for a while first. When you’re making money overall that way, it’s time to switch to the games where you can actually keep the money you win. Be sure you know the game very thoroughly before you start playing for real money, too. You don’t want to lose out because you weren’t sure of the rules. Don’t plan on getting rich, but do plan on having a lot of fun.
